Brakes matter on every racing circuit, but on the fabled Nuerburgring, the most demanding track in the world, they become critical. No wonder then that British Subaru tuner Revolution Motorstore turned to Tarox to arrest the progress of its Subaru STI during the recent breaking of a long-standing lap record.
The record in question was an impressive 7’55″ ‘full circuit’ time set by rally ace Tommi Mäkinen in an allegedly standard Subaru WRX STI on the 16th April 2010. Revolution’s riposte to this road-car benchmark was to take over a hand-built 400+ bhp two-door STI coupe that it had built up from a bare shell, employing the talents of ‘Ring veteran and racer, Fredy Lienhard to attempt to break Tommi’s extraordinary time. Thanks to Fredy’s driving skill and the abilities of the Revolution STI, the clock was stopped some two seconds quicker than the rally legend’s time, creating a new lap record for a fully road-legal Subaru car.
On a circuit that has no less than 172 corners, braking performance is as critical as outright power. Knowing this, the Revolution team sensibly chose to fit Tarox 340mm two-piece discs up front with B34GT 10 piston calipers. The rear used the standard STI calipers, but suitably uprated with F2000 discs and Competizione pads, as per the front. Tarox braided lines were used throughout and the Tarox Road/Race brake fluid replaced the OEM equivalent. All in all, quite some package – and one that seemingly was more than a match for the 14 miles of the ‘Green Hell’.
Commenting after breaking the record, Fredy said, ‘The car was indeed great and the brakes were up to the job 100%. Not a guarantee for a 400+ HP car! I could brake in precisely the same spot as I had planned from my practise laps when we went for the ‘hot’ timed lap. I was surprised how well the brakes can be modulated without ABS.’
So what happens to a car that’s just broken the lap record? Does it get cosseted, trailered up and then towed home to the UK? No, in the true spirit of the record, it was topped up with fuel and driven all the way back to Revolution’s HQ in Gateshead without even changing the brake pads. Proof that Tarox brakes are the perfect solution for road and track work..

Tarox has released a brake upgrade option for owners of some of the VW Group’s hottest models. The latest ‘Competizione’ spec pads offer significantly shorter stopping distances and can be used with either the OEM or any quality aftermarket disc.
The pads are suitable for the Golf MK4 R32, Audi RS4 B5 & Audi TT 3.2 Quattro, which are cars that, to date, have only had very limited braking options for drivers seeking the ultimate in ‘no compromise’ retardation for fast road and track work. The Competitzione pads are direct replacements for the originals, working perfectly with the factory calipers – making them the perfect choice for those looking to keep things looking original for show and concours work, too.
The technology behind these pads draws heavily on Tarox’s experience at the highest level of motorsport – including up to F1 level – and balances exceptionally high coefficients of friction across all temperature ranges with a short warm-up time and excellent temperature stability. As the name suggests, the Competitzione range is aimed primarily at ten-tenths motorsport use and is constructed accordingly, being much more aggressive in its operation than other pads in the Tarox range.
The part number is SP0303.116 and prices vary across Europe based on different VAT rates and carriage costs . Rear brake upgrades, braided lines and race-spec fluid are also all available in the Tarox range for these cars.

Despite being a relatively new addition to the tuning scene Tarox has already developed, tested and released a brake kit to harness the horsepower of Ford’s latest incarnation of the Focus ST. Although built to exacting motorsport standards, the kit is also suitable for fast road use.
Based around the race-proven B32 6 piston billet calipers and hand-assembled in Tarox’s Italian factory the Ford kit utilises two 330mm two-piece discs. Those looking to upgrade to more sophisticated levels of retardation can also opt for the B33 10-piston caliper (pictured). In either case, the rotor is machined from solid billet steel, making for a disc that will withstand much greater heat cycling without distortion. A precision-machined alloy bell completes the picture, and all components bolt to the existing OEM mounts, integrating perfectly with the factory ABS system.
The kit is supplied with the ‘Corsa’ ultra-high performance pad, which provides more than enough braking force to handle circuit work, yet is totally safe for road driving, offering an immediate pedal, even at cold temperatures.

Tarox has released a raft of exciting brake upgrades for the current darling of the tuning scene: The Subaru BRZ and the Toyota GT 86, the ‘Toyobaru’.
For those looking to stick with the existing hardware, both front and rear disc upgrades have been engineered in Tarox’s well-known ‘Sport Japan’, ‘F2000’, and ‘G88’ guises all of them ABE certified . In each case, all styles undergo a structural stress-relieving heat treatment at the end of each machining cycle which increases durability and massively reduces the risk of warping under repeated heavy braking. Additionally, all discs are CNC machine-faced for the perfect braking surface, down to a tolerance of 0.015mm, not only resulting in the perfect performance, but also the perfect finish, to accentuate the overall look of the car.
Both front and rear discs are available in all styles, with a choice of ‘Corsa’ tracks pads or ‘Strada’ street pads for the front and ‘Strada’ for the rear. When combined with a set of Tarox’s own hand-finished braided lines, the efficacy of this set-up should not be underestimated.
For those looking for the ultimate compromise between track ability, street looks and sensible outlay can opt for the 6 piston upgrade out front. This kit draws heavily on Tarox’s extensive motorsport involvement, boasting a pair of 324mm single piece grooved heat treated discs and the ability to withstand much greater heat and repeated application than the factory stoppers can handle.
Whether you’re looking for increased active safety, enhanced looks or drastically reduced stopping distances and lap times, any of these options is a wise first modification for your car.
Prices vary across the European Union due to difference in VAT rates and carriage costs.

Tarox has just released a braking kit to enhance the stopping performance of all Mk2 Lotus Elise and Exige models.
Designed and manufactured in Tarox’s Italian factory, the kit is based around a 310mm billet-machined disc and aluminium bell combination, includes the radial mounting B310 six-piston caliper and ‘Corsa’ high performance brake pads. Braided hoses are also included in the kit for a complete solution.
The amount of thought that has gone into the design process is clear to see in every aspect of its construction. The calipers don’t need an adapter bracket to fit, for example, as they bolt directly onto the suspension legs, OEM style, for optimum integrity and light weight.
That pursuit of light weight has also clearly been at the forefront during the construction of the kit, too. Despite being considerably larger than the OEM set-up it replaces, the new Tarox kit carries considerably less mass. For example, the calipers themselves weigh a full 1.3 kilos less EACH, and the entire rotor assembly is only marginally heavier than the smaller factory part, making a net reduction of more than a kilo overall.
As an original equipment supplier to many leading manufacturers, Tarox has applied its usual quality standards to this aftermarket kit, meaning that this Lotus upgrade carries a dedicated German Teilegutachte certification – making it fully road-legal in even tightly-legislated countries like Germany and Austria. This hard-to achieve quality standard also ensures acceptance in virtually all EC countries as a recognised certification of quality.
Drivers looking to create the ultimate set-up can also opt for a Tarox B280 six pot caliper for the rear, complete with matching two-piece 288mm discs. This set-up gives the advantage of retaining the stock handbrake mechanism and caliper for full legality and safety.
The prices for both kits varies due to the incidence of VAT and carriage costs: for a bespoke quote e-mail Tarox using the relevant form in the “contact” section .

Tarox has just released a brake upgrade combo suitable for Renault’s best Megane yet: the new 250 RS. The combo consists of two precision-machined 340 two-piece discs and uprated pads.
The discs are designed to fit within the OEM calipers and work best when used in conjunction with the supplied Tarox Performance brake pads. Each two piece disc – alloy bell and high specification rotor – is hand-assembled in Tarox’s Italian factory and – like all bespoke discs – features some unique design features that set it apart from the competition. The discs are machined from a solid billet and have been designed to have exceptionally high tensile strength. The ultimate tensile strength for these discs is rated at an impressive 57kg per square mm. To put this figure in perspective, the industry standard for racing spec discs is usually 38 kg per square mm and the CEE standard U.T.S. is 25kg per square mm.
Three designs are available; either OEM looking C83 (pictured), the Sport Japan with its combination of drilled and grooved good looks or the F2000 with its sweeping radial grooves. Either can be run with the ‘Corsa’ pad for fast road and track work, or the ‘Competizione’ pad for cars that spend more time on track.
Despite these much higher tolerances, the new Tarox brakes work seamlessly with all factory ABS systems and in all other respects, perform exactly as per an OEM set-up, with exceptional cold ‘bite’ properties and sensible everyday noise levels. As the perfect finishing touch – and to increase braking performance further still, an optional set of uprated stainless steel braided brake lines can also be ordered to improved efficiency between pedal and pad.

Tarox has released full details of its latest ‘must have’ braking upgrade; its beautifully engineered, hand finished brake lines.
At the top of the braking game since its foundation in 1976, Tarox has invested substantially in the very latest technology to allow it to create a bespoke range of race-quality brake lines for a simply huge range of cars. The range covers hundreds of fitments, including a wide array of classic, retro, tuner, prestige and sports machines. By providing an optimum rate of fluid transfer from pedal to pad, the new Tarox brake hoses improve pedal feel and braking efficiency, enhancing the driver’s ‘feel’ and confidence.
The Tarox range draws heavily from over thirty years of engineering excellence and these new hoses lead the market in terms of their specification. The lines themselves are Teflon-lined braided stainless steel, with custom-machined stainless end fittings.
Each set is entirely hand-finished, and finished in the company’s trademark blue hue. This finish is created by a hard-wearing 95PVC grade outer sleeve to protect against dirt and water ingress. Custom and bespoke builds can easily be accommodated to encompass any possible vehicle fitment, but understandably, these may take a little longer to turn around.
As the perfect complement to a set of Tarox discs and pads, the new brake lines improve braking performance, improve driver confidence and of course, are a track day essential.

The Porsche 993 was produced from 1994 to 1997 and the car is now a late-model classic, upheld by some to be the best 911 ever. That may be debatable, but one thing’s for sure; brake technology has moved on since the Nineties and there’s room for improving those OE brakes.
Enter Dutch tuner and Porsche specialist Klaas van Vuure of Beek Autoracing. Klaas needed something to give his cars a braking edge so he teamed up with TAROX, to produce a new disc and caliper upgrade kit for the 993 that TAROX
have now put into production.
The kit contains:
2 x 360 x 30mm vented discs
(Choice of F2000 spiral grooved or Sport Japan drilled and grooved)
2 x B360 10 piston calipers anodised in black (Red available at extra cost)
1 x set of 4 brake pads (Choice of compounds to suit intended use)
2 x adapting brackets
1 x pair of braided hoses
Although originally designed for race use this upgrade is equally suitable for street and track day use. The calipers have all the seals and protection required to withstand the rigours of day to day street driving. For track use a change of pads is all that’s required.

TAROX already offers an extensive range of calipers in a multitude of sizes, yet they have identified a need for a high performance caliper for use with 360 to 375mm diameter, 60mm wide discs.
The new B360 10 piston caliper fits the bill perfectly.
The B360 is certainly a big caliper, but despite its size, it just weights 3.6 kg.
It combines fast reacting braking with durability, and isn’t too hard on your discs. This callipers has been designed for intensive race and fast road use and is therefore ideal for cars used both on the road and on trackdays.
Unlike dedicated race calipers no dust caps are required to switch from race to road. It is just a matter of swapping to the appropriate pads.
The 10 piston arrangement ensures the pistons are laid out in the most effective position to deliver the smoothest and most powerful braking action for this size of disc.
The calipers are supplied in an anodised finish which will keep them looking good for
a great many years to come.
You can opt for a sober hard-anodised grey finish or, for something more
dramatic, black gold, blue or red anodised finishes are available.
The B360 calipers can be specified as part of TAROX big brake conversions using 360-375mm discs.
Typical applications would be heavish, high performance cars such as the VW Golf R32 BMW 335i, Ford Mustang and many other similar vehicles, in any case, please contact us for more information on application possibilities and prices.

The Nissan 350Z was produced from 2002-2009 and has been a prime
subject for tuners over the years.
Now that affordable examples are coming onto the market there are great opportunities for entusiasts to build an exciting and stylish street/track day car.
With this in mind, TAROX have just introduced a range of upgraded brake discs to fit the Nissan 350Z.
The discs are available in G88 Multigrooved, F2000 spiral grooved and Sport Japan drilled and grooved (shown).
The discs come with the hard-to-obtain ABE Certification, which means that in countries like Germany the original discs can be replaced with these TAROX ones without affecting the manufacturer’s warranty on the vehicle in general.
The discs also come with the new TAROX exclusive Black Zinc coating system to protect against corrosion – most useful in the British climate.
The discs will improve braking performance both on the street and when used on track days, just a change of pads is all that’s required.
TAROX recommend using the discs in conjunction with TAROX Strada pads for very smooth braking action.

TAROX are now offering a front brake upgrade kit for the Nissan 370Z. The kit has already proven its worth on the Marangoni Z Hydro project car that is currently on a promotional tour.
The kit featuring 400 x 32mm discs is available with TAROX spiral grooveF2000 pattern discs. Alternatively customers can specify grooved and drilledSport Japan discs.
All discs aremade using the best quality European blank castings available and are handfinished to ensure excellent performance and longevity.
Also included in the kit are TAROX 12 pot B400calipers, TAROX pads, stainless steel hoses and mounting brackets. By using 12pot calipers TAROX can arrange the pistons around the circumference of the discand keep the radius of the disc to within that of the original wheels.
There is no requirement for new larger wheels withthis kit.A similar kit is available for the rearfeaturing 400x22mm single piece discs ,machined from solid billet. This is to accommodate the ABS ring, which would not be possiblewith a two piece disc.
The upgrade is ideal for ‘spirited’ road driving. Fortrack days just fit TAROX Corsa Brake Pads and the brakes will take more abusethan the car will!

Tarox brake components have been used extensively on both road and track all over the world, so it is no surprise that when developing a new brake fluid it needed to be equally adaptable and strike the perfect balance between high performance and everyday
Tarox ROAD RACE has been specially formulated as a high performance alternative to DOT 5.1 and offers the best of both worlds: it delivers outstanding performance under racing conditions where braking systems must operate at very high temperatures, yet it is suitable for everyday road use where it is essential that a brakefluid conforms to the requirements of car manufactures.
Boiling point at 314°C
Its high boiling point in excess of 300°C makes it ideal for virtually every race condition – yet unlike many high performance fluids – doesn’t require replacement at short intervals.
It conforms and exceeds DOT 4 specification and can be legally used in road vehicles in the USA, Canada and all EU countries and is perfectly suited for use with both Tarox and other aftermarket brake systems.
